LBI Trauma

The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Traumatology, the Research Center in Cooperation with AUVA (LBI Trauma) led by Dr. Johannes Grillari, is part of the Ludwig Boltzmann Society. It meets the research needs of the Austrian Workers’ Compensation Board AUVA, the social insurance for occupational risks for more than 3.3 million Austrian employees and 1.4 million pupils and students.

Its mission is to develop and advance diagnostic, therapeutic and regenerative research strategies to enable the full and sustained recovery of trauma patients. To achieve this goal, our interdisciplinary scientific strategy merges basic biomedical, translational and clinical research. In addition, we integrate innovative precision medicine solutions into clinical practice.

LBI Trauma acts as organizer and main sponsor of the Wiggers-Bernard Conference Initiative. The Wiggers-Bernard initiative has been originally developed by Dr. Heinz Redl, the former head (1998-2018) of the LBI Trauma.
